Julie Bornstein raises $30 million to launch The Yes
Julie Bornstein, former Chief Operating Officer at Stitch Fix, has taken the wraps off her new venture The Yes.
An AI-powered shopping platform, this is expected to launch in the first half of 2020.
“This is an idea I’ve been thinking about since I was 10 and spending my weekends at the mall,” Bornstein, whose resume includes Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Digital Officer at Sephora, VP of E-commerce at Urban Outfitters, VP of E-commerce at Nordstrom and Director of Business Development at Starbucks, told TechCrunch. “All the companies I have worked at were very much leading in this direction.”
Coming out of stealth, The Yes is prepping a beta mode, having hired a 30 person team of machine learning and computer vision experts to build AI software that delivers better product recommendations.
It has raised $30 million from the likes of Forerunner Ventures’s Kirsten Green, True Ventures’s Jon Callaghan and NEA’s Tony Florence. Comcast Ventures and Bain Capital Ventures have also participated in its Series A and seed rounds.
