Alibaba eyes another record as Singles' Day makes scorching start
Alibaba’s annual Singles’ Day has pulled in more than 114 billion yuan ($16.3 billion) of purchases in less than 90 minutes, more than half of last year’s record haul for the 24-hour event.
The Chinese e-commerce giant again hosted a televised entertainment revue in Shanghai to kick things off, this time featuring Taylor Swift and Asian pop icon G.E.M.
Last year, sales topped $30 billion, beating the $25 billion generated in 2017.
